In response to yet ANOTHER tanning scare…
· Since 1992, thousands of doctors have recommended moderate exposure to sunlight for a variety of health benefits. Oprah guest Dr. Oz Mehmet and Dr. Andrew Weil are two prominent examples.
· Being in the “Group 1” category does not say anything about the size of the risk, just that there is any risk at all. Some things in the category are very dangerous, like arsenic and mustard gas. Other substances only carry a very small risk, like red wine, beer, and salted fish.
· News stories that say things like “tanning is as dangerous as arsenic” are flat-out wrong. The scientists have not made that kind of comparison at all, only reporters looking for a scary headline.
· The report itself has not been made available. All the news stories are working off of a press release, and no reporters have actually read the report.
· The IARC is a group of scientists that works with the United Nations. Their report is not a new study; it is a review of a paper from 2006, which itself was a review of 23 studies, some dating to the early 1980s. Those studies had a wide range of findings.
Of the 23 studies:
– 5 were excluded for unusable data
– 16 had results within the margin of error – In an election, experts will say that you shouldn’t trust a poll that shows one candidate ahead by 1%, with a margin of error of 5%.
· Some news stories are including a misleading statistic: that tanning beds increase the risk of melanoma by 75%. This number comes from a study with questionable methods. The study’s authors admit that they did not adjust for factors like outside sun exposure and sun sensitivity. Even if the study is accurate, it does not mean that 75% of tanning bed users will get melanoma, it means that their relative risk is higher. Because the issue is relative risk, when the original risk is very small, a percentage increase that looks big actually translates into a very small added risk.

I graduated at the top of my class from Austin School of Spa Technology in the fall of 2006. I have been in the field for over two years and love what I do.
I believe continuing education is a must in this field. Fashion and beauty trends are constantly changing therefore I attend new demos, classes, and trade shows regularly. Attending these often enable me to offer clients new services using the newest and best products available.
I strictly practice all New York State rules and regulations. Safety and cleanliness are top priority. I specialize in natural nail care and offer a variety of manicures and pedicures. I use CND (formerly Creative Nail Design) product and OPI polish.

This manicure includes the shaping of the nails, a revitalizing citrus soak, meticulous cuticle removal and conditioning, a relaxing massage with an age defending elasticity restoring lotion, and a polish of your choice.

This manicure includes the shaping of the nails, a revitalizing citrus soak, meticulous cuticle removal and conditioning, a crystalline citric acid and vitamin E scrub, an ultra moisturizing cream mask, a paraffin dip, a relaxing massage with an age defending elasticity restoring lotion, and a polish of your choice.
$25 about 45 minutes
Classic Pedicure
This pedicure includes a foaming seaweed foot soak, the shaping of the nails, meticulous cuticle removal and conditioning, exfoliation, a light fragrant oil-free massage, and a polish of your choice. Please do not shave your legs 24 hours prior to your pedicure.

Spa Pedicure
This pedicure includes an aroma therapeutic sea rocks foot soak, the shaping of the nails, meticulous cuticle removal and conditioning, exfoliation, a mineral and dead sea salt foot scrub, a cooling and rejuvenating marine algae foot mask, a paraffin dip, cucumber heel therapy application, a light fragrant oil-free massage, and a polish of your choice. Please do not shave your legs 24 hours prior to your pedicure.

Helios presents Airbrush Spray Tanning!
From the same company that brought you the Formostar Body Fat Mel ting System… Helios presents Airbrush Spray Tanning! Air brush is applied by a trained tech that is skilled at providing the most even coverage you can possibly attain. This means your tan will look better. Use of the air brush allows on the spot exfoliation by applying a glycolic-based spray. This ensures that the solution will attain the deepest penetration possible. This process means your tan will last longer. The air brush tech is well versed in analyzing skin types and tones and can provide a solution mixture and application that is most appropriate and looks the best for you. A spray booth uses the premises “one spray fits all” which simply just is not the case, and often results in terrible coloring effect to the detriment of the user. The human tech can reach hard-to-apply areas such as behind the knees, around elbows, fingers and other places that the spray booth AKA “Human Car Wash” just cannot effectively provide even coverage in these areas. Using the air brush technique allows the solution to dry on the skin exactly how it is applied, which means your tan will look excellent. The spray booth requires you to “Towel Off” or “Buff Dry” after being sprayed. This method totally defeats the purpose and often results in very little coloration of the skin, or horrible streaking that makes the person who used the booth look and feel like a freak. DON’T TAKE A CHANCE. Air brushing is less expensive to the client and much more effective. The user may spray certain body parts rather than the entire body.
